The day started with sun and a short walk from Gargrave. Garry walked out of Gargrave along a quiet country lane and then headed through some pretty farmer's fields with lots of lambs. There were a couple of hilly fields. He came down by the River Aire and then followed that along its course through Hanlith, towards Malham, on the Pennine Way all the way.
Both Garry and I saw some of the walker/runners in the Spine race today, quite a few weary looking bodies.
Whilst Garry was walking, I parked in Malham and me and Alfie walked up to Malham Cove. There was stunning scenery at every turn as I walked closer to the cove.
Lots of grey dry stone walls separating fields and a good clear pathway to show the way into the cove.
Alfie enjoyed the beck alongside the path and was very good negotiating sheep today! We watched a couple of climbers scaling the limestone face of Malham Cove. Malham Cove is a 70 metre (230 feet) high, gently curving cliff of white limestone. It was an incredible sight and well worth a visit. https://www.yorkshiredales.org.uk/places/malham_cove/
We then retraced our steps back to Malham village and found Beck Hall inviting us in for elevenses.
