And she's back! Thank you Garry for the rest from typing yesterday.
As we packed up and left the Airbnb in Hednesford, we weren't particularly enthusiastic about the day's walking ahead.
However, once we arrived at Abbot's Bromley, the clouds had cleared a little and Garry walked a short way through Abbot's Bromley main street before turning onto the Staffordshire Way, which he would remain on for the duration of the planned walk today.Today was a shorter walk of 7.6 miles from Abbot's Bromley to Uttoxeter. There were a lot of stiles for Garry to negotiate and a lot of long wet grass. It was uneven underfoot so not the easiest walking day today. As he walked through New Thorntree farm, he received scowls from a couple of cows.
About half way along today's walk, in Scounslow Green, the buttercups were out despite the grey skies, the sheep didn't seem to mind either.
After the day's walk was over, we enjoyed a coffee (and biscoff cheesecake for Garry!), a quick trip to Pets at Home for treats for Alfie and then headed to our new Airbnb in Ashbourne. Lovely treats were waiting for us!
Tomorrow's walk will take us into Derbsyshire, so feeling a long way from Cornwall now!
Looking at the routes for the next couple of days, there may be some changes to the planned routes. Whilst Dovedale looks like a lovely walk, the Tissington trail is calling as an easier track. Watch this space....
Dovedale is beautiful, but I can also see the attraction of the Tissington Trail as a much easier walking prospect - another disused railway line. I have walked sections of both when I stayed at the H.F. Guest House at Thorpe, just north of Ashbourne.
ReplyDeleteCricket rained off this evening - waterlogged pitch!
We cycled the Tissington trail, Ashbourne to Hartington, back in March - hired electric cycles in view of Anna's ongoing recovery (and my laziness). Be aware that it's uphill from Ashbourne, albeit not seriously so.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info.
