Today was the final day completely in Somerset. Tomorrow, we cross into Bristol.
I dropped Garry off at The Church of St Bridget at Chelvey and he headed off walking towards Gordano. It was a planned shorter day today as he walked an extra 4 miles yesterday. He started off with footpaths across fields and through a wood, followed by lanes. After a couple of miles, Garry reached Nailsea.
Meanwhile I drove onto Gordano services, parked up, and me and Alfie headed off the other way to meet him. I have never walked so close to a motorway!
Garry spotted a sculpture trail near Wraxall.
On the way back from meeting Garry, we went past Gordano rugby club. Garry remembers being captain of the Old Pats 3rd team there in the early 1990s.
A slight diversion for us as the end of a footpath was closed off, a nice walk around a field instead!
After we got back to Gordano services, we had lunch and then drove back to Cheltenham where we'll be spending the next week or so as our base for the daily walks.
8 miles for Garry and 5.3 miles for me today.
A big one is planned for tomorrow to cross into Bristol (after a night in our own bed!) from Gordano to Oldbury-on-Severn. My 'baby group friend' Ali is joining us for the second part of the walk and possibly a visit from an 'old netballer', sorry Helen!
Well done for passing through Somerset 👏🏻👏🏻 hopefully the weather will stay dry today for your big walk xxx
