After an eventful evening where we locked ourselves out of the Airbnb property, (thank you Sarah for giving us the emergency number so we could find a spare key and get back in), today's planned walk was from Crediton to Tiverton, joined by Isaac and Pepper.
On the way to Crediton to drop Garry off, we saw a young deer dart across the road. Once Garry started walking from Crediton, he passed a plant sale in Shorebrook and Crediton Cricket Club.
Whilst Garry was walking, I drove to meet Isaac and Pepper in Tiverton, then we took one car down to Thorverton and waited for Garry. Pepper passed the time jumping onto a wall.
We walked along lanes, up and down a very steep hill, along the side of the River Exe. Alfie and Pepper enjoyed a paddle in the river. We passed Bickleigh castle and Mill and then had to call into The Fishermans Cot for a drink, a beautiful setting by the River Exe.
It was lovely to see Murie and Jacqui who joined us for lunch on their way down to Newquay.
We said goodbye to Murie and Jacqui and headed onto Tiverton. Most of this was though quiet tracks and through a wooded area on the Exe Valley Way next to the River Exe.
It was during this section of the walk that we narrowly avoided a swarm of bees (well spotted Isaac!) and Alfie found something disgusting to roll in. Hence a hose down when we got back to the Airbnb property!
Garry walked 15 miles today, me and Isaac walked 9.5 miles.
Tomorrow is the first stint from Tiverton to Taunton, joined by some friends.
Wow! A bit of a busy day. I loved the " had to call in to The Fisherman's Cot for a drink " . I couldn't see anyone holding a gun to your head !! You're certainly clocking up the miles at the moment. That's a 15 and a nearly 16 mile day in succession, Garry. Well done 👏.
ReplyDeleteVeg, it was too good an opportunity to resist! Garry's doing a great job covering those miles!
