The day started with sunshine and a little less wind than yesterday.
I dropped Garry at The Old Smiddy Inn in Thrumster, drove back to Wick to drop the car off and then me and Alfie walked out on the A99 to meet him. There was a pavement for a half a mile so the walk was possible with Alfie today.
Signpost to the south, showing all the places we have been through. The north signpost has been damaged by Storm Floris on Monday evening.
Garry walked along the A99 towards Wick, once again on and off the verges when the traffic came along. He passed Loch Hemprigg on his left, followed shortly afterwards by a variety of farm animals.
After 2.5 miles Garry met with me and Alfie and we walked back together towards Wick.
As we were walking, we heard a whistle and a shout of 'Garry' from behind. We turned around and Niall was walking towards us after being dropped off to say hello on his drive back South, after he made it to John o'Groats and Dunnet Head yesterday. It was lovely to see Niall and have a quick chat before we headed off our separate ways.
We found another strange coffee shop on the way back to Wick, dropped off coats in the car, and headed off towards Reiss, walking through Wick on our way. Me and Alfie walked for a couple of miles with Garry and then turned around back to Wick. Garry continued on to Reiss, again up the A99. I met Garry just off the main road in Reiss.
We went for a walk along the amazing Reiss beach (Sinclair's bay). Alfie loved the sand dunes!
Lunch time called and we drove to a lovely lunch spot at The Shoal with Old Wick castle just behind us on the cliffs.
On the way back we spotted The Trinkie, an open air swimming pool., well signposted on the rocks!
Garry walked the planned 8 miles (plus a bit more on the beach).
Just 2 more days to go until John o'Groats......
