Day 25 Worcester to Bewdley ( a day of 3 dogs)

We drove up to Worcester and met Spencer (Deputy Director of Education for Worcester diocese) with his dog, Barney. Spencer has been facilitating a NPQSEN course on which I am currently working. Also Becca (Garry's ex-work colleague) and her dog, Bailey joined us. We walked from Worcester Bridge, along the Severn Way, towards the new Kepax bridge, where Spencer left us to 'help' his daughter buy a new phone!  We continued along the Severn Way, Bailey enjoying a few dips in the river, as only a spaniel does!                                              After a while, me and Alfie turned back to go walk back to the car as we had to drive back to Cheltenham to wait for a delivery and pack the car up. There were a number of houses built on stilts to avoid the regularly overflowing River Severn.  Meanwhile, Garry and Becca carried on walking towards Stourport. T...

Day 24 Tewkesbury to Worcester (300 miles passed and a new county, Worcestershire)

Much of today continued northwards along the Severn Way. However, there were few diversions and some overgrown sections with very long grass and stinging nettles. My brother, Richard, left Sutton early this morning to drive to Tewkesbury to join us today. Robin and Britta from Cheltenham also joined us.                                                                               We all set off from Tewkesbury this morning, quickly joining the Severn Way through a well signposted short grass section. After half an hour, me and Alfie turned back to return to the car. The other four continued along the Severn Way.                                                  ...

Day 23 Gloucester Docks to Tewkesbury (Severn Way continued)

Today's walk was mostly along the Severn Way today. It was blocked in places and very overgrown in places, mainly near Gloucester. We walked through Gloucester to avoid the known blocked part of the Severn Way.    Garry continued via  Sandhurst and then picked up the Severn Way from there.                     Garry had a welcome lunchtime pint in the Red Lion at Wainlode. After a couple of hours, I drove up to Tewkesbury and me and Alfie walked along the Severn Way to meet Garry. Once we got close to a field with cows almost lying on the track, me and Alfie waited on the safe side of the fence. We were next to Cheltenham College rowing club. Once Garry came safely through the cows, we walked back along the river into Tewkesbury to the car.  14 miles walked for Garry today, a total of 298 miles since Lands End!  Tomorrow, Garry will definitely break through the 300 mile mark, with my brother Richard, a...
